I teach real yoga. Classically trained with authentic experience I correctly and safely teach the practice to fit each unique individual. We gently guide the body into relaxed yet powerful postures to promote strength and elasticity, working to prevent injury rather than causing it. When we concentrate on our breath and movements of the body we build flexibility, strength, and balance of body and mind.

Flexibility

Increasing flexibility from any starting point puts us on the path of progress, improving circulation and prana flow. This nourishes the organs and muscles and makes us more resilient to strain and injury. With correct alignment we can relax into stretches as we open our bodies and minds so that we may enjoy more freedom of movement and develop greater capacity to adapt to daily life and its inevitable challenges and changes.

Strength

As we strengthen our bodies we can function with more ease and allow ourselves access to a broader range of possible activities. Confidence is boosted as we notice toned muscles and feel the stability of increased bone density, one of the best measures of healthy aging. Working to maintain steady breath in a difficult pose creates stamina and strength from the innermost layers, or kosas, all the way out into the expressions of our spirit and will.

Balance

When we surrender to a quiet stillness yet remain intensely aware, we experience a profound center of balance. Holding this concentration while in a yoga posture enhances our overall focus as well as our proprioception, the spatial awareness of how and where we are moving relative to our surroundings, a boon for neurological wellness. A balanced body inspires calm breath and a centered mind, our depths infused with a deep sense of equanimity and grace.

Modifications

From beginners to experienced practitioners, every body and each moment is completely unique. We are all distinct individuals with inherent and accumulated freedoms and restrictions that may require props and creative approaches. All yoga postures have various levels of expression, from partial components as preparatory basics, to more challenging additions for the very determined. Intelligent modifications specific to personal needs maximize the effectiveness of our practice and facilitate true progress.

Yoga is the ancient art of movement and stillness, the space between the inhale and the exhale, the transformative journey to unite with our highest selves.
